This Privacy Policy explains how the "Pater" Discord bot ("the Bot", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you interact with the Bot.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
- User IDs and Server IDs: to provide per‑server settings and memory features.
- Message Content: we process the text of messages that mention the Bot or are sent in channels where the Bot is active. We do not permanently store message content.
- Stored Memories: if you interact conversationally, the Bot may extract and store short facts you share about yourself (e.g., hobbies, name) in a local database to personalise future conversations. You can view and delete these memories at any time using the ,memories and ,forget commands.
- Usage Data: we log anonymous usage statistics (e.g., number of API requests) for maintenance purposes.

3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
- To generate responses and provide the Bot’s services.
- To maintain and improve the Bot’s functionality.
- To enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse.

4. DATA RETENTION
- Message content is processed in real time and not stored permanently.
- User memories are stored in a database on the Bot’s host server until you delete them or the Bot is reset. No memories are shared with third parties.
- Anonymous usage logs are retained indefinitely for performance monitoring.

5. DATA SECURITY
We take reasonable measures to protect data from unauthorised access, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The Bot uses Google’s Gemini API to generate responses. Your message content may be transmitted to Google for processing. Please refer to Google’s Privacy Policy for information on how they handle data.

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The Bot is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. YOUR RIGHTS
You may request deletion of your stored memories at any time by using the ,forget command in a server where the Bot is present, or by contacting the Bot owner.

9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via the Bot’s support channels.
